Valerie's Attempt at Pondering: To Talk Like Christ

Words are so powerful! I'm really learning this at a deeper level as time goes on. I love it! :) Speaking positively. Speaking kindly. Speaking honestly. Speaking like Christ...  make a bad life good and a good life amazing! :) I now have a label you can use to look up posts titled "the power of words." And since I'm collecting inspiration from  which teaches of the power of words, I'm linking up with Valerie's blog again! :) Some things just need to be remembered...

Valerie's Attempt at Pondering: To Talk Like Christ

PS. I know I haven't written much as of late. I do hope to post weekly again soon. I will say here though that lately, I have fallen in love with my life again! :D It is AWESOME! Honestly, I still have days when I cry over something and all is not perfect - life is challenging. But I love it! I don't know what it is... Maybe it is simply that I know I'm on the right track and my life is going in such a positive direction. Maybe the lord is buoying me up to energize me! :o I feel like I'm taking "happy" pills. No. I don't take drugs of any kind! Never have, never will. But My life FEELS amazingly good right now! I feel incredibly happy with my life! :) sigh... (Maybe it has to do with all these positive and happy words dancing through my veins! ;)

I hope you love your life, too!

PPS. I have a new family blog... moorememoir.blogspot.com
I still need to jaz it up a bit, but I have transfered a few posts over to it and am now writing on it and plan to write on it weekly. I think I will make an effort to post weekly on each of these blogs. Welcome on over! :D

Throw Your Family a Gratitude Party! :D

This is an old photo of one of my sons, Dausen...
who I am very thankful for! :)
(Of course, I'm thankful for ALL my wonderful kids! :D)

Hi! :) I know I haven't been writing much. I am so busy, but life is GOOD. :) Since I have not the time to write, and since I found another fabulous blog post worth sharing, I decided to link up with a great post from Latter Day Homeschooling.

Follow the link above to view some wonderful ideas for a Gratitude Party. In that post you will have access to a gratitude banner and a darling gratitude list reprintable. In addition you will get to see  three of my favorite videos about gratitude (I guess the author and I just think alike - or I just adore the subject of gratitude! :) You may have seen these videos in years past on my blog or elsewhere; It's OK... they are worth the repeat!)

Hugs to you all, and have a thankful day! :D

More Faith than Concern for Our Future...

I am at PEACE despite all that is VERY WRONG in our country right now (not that it is all wrong... there is a lot right as well :) - I am at peace for two reasons...

First, because of the perspective I have at the forefront of my mind right now of all that the lord has prophesied would happen in these latter days, and the knowledge that when we make mistakes, or when others around us make mistakes, the challenges we go through REFINE US. This perspective gives me peace concerning hardships that I can't make go away. It reminds me that we all came to earth to go through hardships so we can be refined into wiser, better people in so many ways (and mistakes really DO help with this process).

I can't make all the bad things that are happening in the world go away. Stressing out about it won't help. Remembering that each challenge I go through gives me opportunity to make a good choice -does help. Whether I bring a hardship upon myself through my own mistakes or whether a hardship is brought upon me by another person's mistakes does not matter; I can learn, grow, and become a better person through the refining experience...

Second, I know God lives; and He has given us comfort concerning our future...

I DO have concerns for our country... Many concerns. I don't think it wise to let faith turn into complacency. We need to speak up. We need to do what we can to bring about changes and improve the society we live in. We need to find a way to make a difference. We need to be willing and ready to work, should desire to use our hands to further His work...

I like the encouragement that the presidency gave to pray for our leaders in these trying times...

"Salt Lake City —

"The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Tuesday:

"We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of the United States.
After a long campaign, this is now a time for Americans to come together. It is a long tradition among Latter-day Saints to pray for our national leaders in our personal prayers and in our congregations. We invite Americans everywhere, whatever their political persuasion, to pray for the President, for his administration and the new Congress as they lead us through difficult and turbulent times. May our national leaders reflect the best in wisdom and judgment as they fulfill the great trust afforded to them by the American people.
We also commend Governor Romney for engaging at the highest level of our democratic process, which, by its nature, demands so much of those who offer themselves for public service. We wish him and his family every success in their future endeavors."

For today, I keep an open and peaceful mind, pray, and continue to work to further get my own house in order...

Valerie's Attempt at Pondering: Be Careful Where You Walk

I just read a fabulous blog post! After making several notes I decided I just needed to link the whole thing up for easy review. ;) If you are working on preparing youth for missions - I think you may enjoy this as much as I do! Read on...

Valerie's Attempt at Pondering: Be Careful Where You Walk

PS. I decided to leave here two quotes I especially love from the above post (emphasis mine)...

"Son, be careful where you walk.
Father, you be careful. Remember that I follow your steps."

I am not perfect. I am very happy though, that overall, I am a good example. :)
But even example is not enough...

Parents, the days are long past when regular, active participation in Church meetings and programs, though essential, can fulfill your sacred responsibility to teach your children to live moral, righteous lives and walk uprightly before the Lord. With President Monson’s announcement this morning, it is essential that this be faithfully accomplished in homes which are places of refuge where kindness, forgiveness, truth, and righteousness prevail. Parents must have the courage to filter or monitor Internet access, television, movies, and music. Parents must have the courage to say no, defend truth, and bear powerful testimony. Your children need to know that you have faith in the Savior, love your Heavenly Father, and sustain the leaders of the Church. Spiritual maturity must flourish in our homes. My hope is that no one will leave this conference without understanding that the moral issues of our day must be addressed in the family. Bishops and priesthood and auxiliary leaders need to support families and make sure that spiritual principles are taught. Home and visiting teachers can assist, especially with children of single parents.”
Elder Quentin L. Cook, Can Ye Feel So Now?, October 2012

This is what I am working on now. I am not a helicopter mom; but I don't want to go in the opposite direction either; balance is needed. I have a LOT of work to do. I pray for help from my Father in Heaven, as well as from friends and family; we have work to do! I can not do this alone. But I am confident that as a team we can work miracles!

Good morning! :D My family and I were up late last night. But Levi still made it out of bed at 5 something to make it to Seminary! :D That kid seriously ROCKS - as does SEMINARY! :) Devry goes to quick release in the afternoon; lucky him! :)

I saw this seminary video and laughed to my heart's content. I hope you enjoy it to...
