Charity ~ Elder Marvin J. Ashton

"Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone's differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another's weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other."

Elder Marvin J. Ashton

I got this printable here after Ginger told me about it... :) Thanks Ginger!

This is one of my favorite quotes. It is a reminder of my goals and of so many of the Christ-like characteristics which lead to peaceful relationships and happy hearts. To me, it is about having vision... ~ Sapere Vedere ~ Seeing other people the way God does, and focusing on the best. When we do this, how can we not be filled with love? And how can those whom we love not be inspired and encouraged to greatness?

Charity... having Charity...  makes life beautiful!

  2. the benefit of the doubt, I like that. I have to remember, slow down, we think and see things differently, and that's ok.

  3. Wow, totally needed that today! Struggling with some of my neighbors who have hurt my feelings, "I need to resist the impluse to become offended, and forgive" I guess I just need to have Charity...Thanks for the reminder!

There is a ripple effect in all that we do; what you do touches me, what I do touches you...
