I am at PEACE despite all that is VERY WRONG in our country right now (not that it is all wrong... there is a lot right as well :) - I am at peace for two reasons...
First, because of the perspective I have at the forefront of my mind right now of all that the lord has prophesied would happen in these latter days, and the knowledge that when we make mistakes, or when others around us make mistakes, the challenges we go through REFINE US. This perspective gives me peace concerning hardships that I can't make go away. It reminds me that we all came to earth to go through hardships so we can be refined into wiser, better people in so many ways (and mistakes really DO help with this process).
I can't make all the bad things that are happening in the world go away. Stressing out about it won't help. Remembering that each challenge I go through gives me opportunity to make a good choice -does help. Whether I bring a hardship upon myself through my own mistakes or whether a hardship is brought upon me by another person's mistakes does not matter; I can learn, grow, and become a better person through the refining experience...
Second, I know God lives; and He has given us comfort concerning our future...
I DO have concerns for our country... Many concerns. I don't think it wise to let faith turn into complacency. We need to speak up. We need to do what we can to bring about changes and improve the society we live in. We need to find a way to make a difference. We need to be willing and ready to work, should desire to use our hands to further His work...
I like the encouragement that the presidency gave to pray for our leaders in these trying times...

"We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of the United States.
After a long campaign, this is now a time for Americans to come together. It is a long tradition among Latter-day Saints to pray for our national leaders in our personal prayers and in our congregations. We invite Americans everywhere, whatever their political persuasion, to pray for the President, for his administration and the new Congress as they lead us through difficult and turbulent times. May our national leaders reflect the best in wisdom and judgment as they fulfill the great trust afforded to them by the American people.
We also commend Governor Romney for engaging at the highest level of our democratic process, which, by its nature, demands so much of those who offer themselves for public service. We wish him and his family every success in their future endeavors."

DeleteAmen Girl! I do feel saddened at the outcome of this election, but life is going to go on and we have to trust in Gods plan for our lives and pray, work hard, and Yes, get our own houses in order :)
