Miles

I have a couple of blog posts which I started writing, but haven't finished and posted yet. One is about my twins, the other about Thanksgiving Blessings... but today is my husband's birthday and I want to honor him today. So, with all that Thursdays bring and the short space of time which I have this morning to write... I pray for words of lasting value in these few minutes, to honor my sweet, loving husband.

We have been married for a little over 22 years now. And after 22 years you start to get to know a person. :) It has been an incredible journey of discovery for me. There were times when we both wondered if the other even knew us... we didn't. Sometimes we can get so fixated on what we want, that we don't see what we have... we can't know someone when all we see is what they are not.

Being married to Miles has been a humbling blessing - no, a multitude of humbling blessings. I don't know of anyone who is more forgiving, more childlike, more optimistic and full of appreciation for the present and for his life - than my husband, Miles. He never focuses on what isn't, for he is too preoccupied with gratitude for what is. He is a total JOY to be around. And he loves me totally and completely. He tells me that I am the best thing that ever happened to him. He is patient with me (he has to be, but he does it so well!). I am always more than enough, in his eyes. He works hard to make himself a better person... "to be deserving of me."
Miles has been a sailor since he was six.
His two loves in life are sailing, and me! :)
Of course, he loves me most (which I might
add... is really saying something). ;)
There have been times when all I could see was what wasn't. He loved me anyhow... And he encouraged me to see the best with hope for the worst to become the best... it does you know. He overlooks my faults as if they aren't even there. He has very little advice for me. :o :) He believes in me. He trusts me. He encourages me, and tells me how much bigger I am than what I see... He tells me he is so amazed and blessed to have me; he doesn't know what he did to deserve me. But it is I who still pray to be deserving of him! What could I have possibly done to deserve such love? Nothing. He doesn't love me because I am wonderful... HE LOVES ME BECAUSE HE IS WONDERFUL!

The past couple of years have been transformational for us, especially the past couple of months. His humility and child like love have a great deal to do with that. He has become, and continues to become - so much, so rapidly; I pray to also keep improving and keep up with him! I am so happy that he is my eternal companion!

I love Miles!

  1. This is such a sweet post Corine. I can see that you love Miles so much and that HE loves YOU! I hope he has a nice birthday today. I love the part where you said, "He doesn't love me because I am wonderful...He loves me because HE is wonderful!" Very wise and very true. Now I just want to go home and give my husband a hug and a kiss and tell him much I love him. :) I hope you both get to do something fun to celebrate his birthday!

There is a ripple effect in all that we do; what you do touches me, what I do touches you...
